Community Guidelines

Effective 2026-10-12

Effective date: 2026-10-12

HeyYou is for saying hey to the people around you. These guidelines keep it friendly and safe. They apply to everything on HeyYou: nicknames, avatars, statuses, public rooms, private chats, groups and voice notes. Breaking them can get your content removed and your account banned.

Be yourself, be kind

Disagree without attacking people. Treat strangers nearby the way you would face to face.

Not allowed

Harassment and bullying. Insulting, threatening, shaming or repeatedly contacting someone who does not want to hear from you. If someone ignores your hey or blocks you, move on.

Hate. Attacking or demeaning people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or serious illness.

Sexual content. Sexually explicit messages, voice notes or nicknames, and unwanted sexual advances.

Anything involving minors. HeyYou is for adults only. Any sexual content involving or targeting a minor is strictly prohibited. We remove it, ban the account and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement. Do not use HeyYou if you are under 18.

Violence and threats. Threats of violence, encouraging self-harm or violence, glorifying attacks, or organising harm to anyone.

Sharing someone's location or private information. Posting another person's exact location, address, phone number, photos, or other personal details, or using HeyYou to follow, stalk or track anyone.

Illegal activity. Selling or promoting drugs, weapons or other illegal goods and services, or any other illegal activity.

Spam and scams. Repetitive or unsolicited promotion, links to scams, phishing, asking for money, or fake giveaways.

Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, a public figure, a business or HeyYou staff.
