Terms of Use
Effective date: 2026-10-12
These Terms are an agreement between you and L.D ("we", "us"), who operates the HeyYou app and the website https://heyyou.app (together, "HeyYou"). By using HeyYou you agree to these Terms, to our Privacy Policy and to our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use HeyYou.
1. Who can use HeyYou
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. You may not use HeyYou if we have previously removed you, or if you are barred from using it under applicable law.
2. Your account
HeyYou uses an anonymous account that lives on your device. There is no password, so anyone with access to your unlocked phone can use your account, and if you delete the app or lose your phone, the account may not be recoverable. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
Your nickname is yours only within your area and may not impersonate anyone or break the Community Guidelines. We may change or remove a nickname that does.
3. Your content
You are responsible for what you post: messages, voice notes, your nickname, avatar and status ("Your Content"). You keep ownership of it. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, display and process Your Content only as needed to operate, secure and improve HeyYou, and to review it for safety. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted, except for copies we must keep for legal or safety reasons.
You confirm you have the right to share Your Content and that it does not break the law or anyone's rights.
4. Content disappears
Most content on HeyYou is deleted automatically, generally within 24 hours. HeyYou is not a storage service: do not rely on it to keep anything. Other people can still take screenshots or recordings of what you share, and we cannot control that.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, you will not:
- harass, threaten, bully or exploit anyone, or share sexual content involving anyone under 18;
- share someone else's location or personal information without their consent, or use HeyYou to stalk or track people;
- post illegal content, spam, scams or malware;
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent your age;
- try to access other accounts, scrape data, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with HeyYou, or get around its limits, filters or blocks;
- use HeyYou for commercial purposes without our written permission.
6. Location
HeyYou shows other users your approximate location and distance. Use good judgement when meeting anyone you meet through HeyYou: meet in public places and tell someone you trust. We do not screen users and are not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or offline.
7. Moderation, suspension and termination
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate any account at our discretion, including when we believe these Terms or the Community Guidelines have been broken, or to protect users, third parties or HeyYou. You can stop using HeyYou at any time and delete your data from Settings → Delete my data. Sections 3 (as to legal and safety copies), 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 survive termination.
8. Disclaimers
HeyYou is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free. Locations and distances are approximate. We are not responsible for content posted by users.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of HeyYou or your interactions with other users. Our total liability for any claim relating to HeyYou will not exceed the greater of US$50 or the amount you paid us for HeyYou in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you in full.
10. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify L.D against claims, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of HeyYou, or your breach of these Terms or of the law.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, United States, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits rights you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
12. Apple
If you downloaded HeyYou from the App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for HeyYou or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Apple is not responsible for any product claims, for any claim that HeyYou infringes a third party's intellectual property, or for any warranty, except that if HeyYou fails to conform to an applicable warranty you may notify Apple for a refund of any purchase price. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using HeyYou after that, you accept the updated Terms.
14. General
These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines are the entire agreement between you and us about HeyYou. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them in connection with a transfer of HeyYou.
